What You'll Learn

Explain how trees regulate carbon, water and biodiversity, and why species-site matching decides survival.
Run a tree nursery: collect and store seed, propagate seedlings, harden them and apply quality standards.
Plan and execute planting with modern technology — GIS site assessment, planting techniques, drones and direct seeding.
Monitor survival with field and remote-sensing methods, engage communities and access restoration finance.

About This Course

Tree planting looks simple — dig a hole, plant a seedling. Yet across Africa, poorly planned projects routinely lose more than half their trees within three years. This course teaches the technology that separates thriving forests from failed plantations: how trees interact with climate, water and soil; how to run a nursery that produces vigorous seedlings; how to match species to site with modern tools from GIS to drone seeding; and how to monitor survival, engage communities and connect restoration to carbon finance. Built around the Great Green Wall, AFR100 and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration.
